Internet Squabbles

My advice to keep things drama free on the internet..

Keep it cool, calm, and collected. Don't jump to conclusions on what a person is asking or saying about or be quick to judge a person's integrity and intellect.  This is the internet, you cant assume a person's tone unless of course they are cursing up a storm or decides to write in all caps and use a bunch of exclamation marks.

So quit flaming people for those that flame, that is all. :)

Love at First Sight

Love at first sight would be more than likely equated to pure lust, you're physically attracted to that person... but that alone can't make a loving relationship, looks will only make u feel so much for a person.

Their personality is what drives your love for the person, think of what they look like as a brand new shiny car... it being driven is like love, the driver would be their personality... a bad driver or poor personality will crash in a sense. lol

Habitual Criminals

Tired of seeing cronic criminals continue to commit crimes... ok, they messed up once, make them do the time to think about what they did wrong, if they come out and become outstanding citizens, are able to positively contribute to society... then awesome more power to them.

But I have some major problems of repeated offenders that are able to walk freely to only do wrong again... I say lock them up for good, if not forever, but til they're too old to be able to terrorize innocent people who live a normal law abiding life. SMH come on judicial system get it together. -_-

Social Networking

With the rise of Facebook and other social network sites, it has made it easier for many people to be able to network and make connections with new people they would otherwise would never knew existed or be able to come in contact with.  This new medium can be used for many things like spreading news, marketing campaigns, networking, and friendships/relationships.

I've personally been able to establish friendships with people of similar interests from all over the world, which wouldn't be possible otherwise without these social networking sites.  They have become so big that it's now part of our everyday lives.  Facebook to be more specific is everywhere.  Everyone who doesn't have one may be looked as if they're an alien from another planet.

The internet and technology is the future, and the future is now.

Foreign Flavors

A co-worker had brought in a box of desserts from his recent vacation to India.  I've noticed that most people looked at the box and said no thanks.   I mean not even a nibble to try before totally rejecting it?  Being that I to try new things I tried a piece.  Although the flavors were different and something I'm not use to, it was by no means bad or would make anyone want to spit it back out in disgust.  I think there are cultural reasons why a person chooses to step out of the box of what their taste buds may be use to.  Me being a first generation Asian-American, I grew up having raised to always try this or that and if you didn't you would be looked at poorly.

To me most Americans only want to eat what they know and what they are use to.  I say "man-up" its not going to kill you to taste something new.  Maybe you will even enjoy it and open up you tastes senses to a whole new flavor.

But I guess for now just means more for me to enjoy. :-)

Asian Males in Mainstream America

It's almost non-existent.  My title is an oxymoron, Asian men are not mainstream in America at all.  Well, not portrayed as normal citizens to say the least.  In movies especially, there are no lead Asian male roles unless he knows how to fight or is a ninja.  We're here in America too and do normal everyday things all other American males do.  It's like we're forever boxed into of this category of unwanteds.  This definitely makes it harder in the dating scenes as well, since there is a lack of positive media for Asian males to make us as manly as all other men.  Asian men can be just as manly as any other type of man....

I don't know if it's ever possible for a complete change, I do notice small advances, so I am hopeful.

Pursuit of Happiness

You're as happy as you want to be.. if things aren't going right for you, I think you would have the right to feel down in the dumps, but the best thing to do is to think on the positives and tell yourself, "tomorrow is another day, a brand new day to try to achieve what I need to achieve that I didn't manage to accomplish yesterday."

Set some small goals and build up to where you want to be, live in the current... 10yrs from now will get here soon enough, you'll cross that bridge when you get there.  For the sake of one's own sanity, just think about the next 10 days instead, things seem a little less daunting when you take some "baby" steps.

Happy pursuit readers.

Chinese Food

When you order take out from your local town Chinese restaurant, you may think you are getting some authentic Asian cuisine.  Not to say that it isn't real food or made with real ingredients, by there is no mystery meat of any sort, but its far from being authentic.  Instead it's "American" stylized Chinese food, very much like "fast food".  The recipes created were all meant to appeal to American taste, the type of seasoning, the type of meats and vegetables... etc.

Where can you find "real" Chinese food?  Well, that's quite simple, Chinatown.  Yes, to get real authentic Chinese food you will have to head to your local Chinatown.  Almost all major cities have a Chinatown.  Once you had eaten at one of these fine restaurants you may never want to order take out from the Chinese restaurant ever again.  The flavors are just so much more richer, the quality, and freshness of all the dishes will leave you wanting more.

My personal favorites are "Sang Kee", "Rising Tide", "Ocean City", and "Ken's Seafood", but you should check these out and some of the other ones to find your own favorites.

Happy eating, enjoy.

Soulmates..

I was presented with a question from a good friend of mine, whether I believed in people having soulmates or is it just a pipe dream.

Yes, i do believe soul mates are for real. There are soo many people in this world, there's bound to be at least a handful of people that you would be able to get along with extremely well in all aspects of each others lives.

But if your constantly looking for that one, you will most likely look forever. That is the real pipe dream.

What is really needed of yourself is to experience life as an individual. Have an understanding of your own values, morals, goals, things you like, things you dislike. Some find out early, some may need to go through many detours and speed bumps. When that someone does come along and shares similar traits of yourself then that's step one. Let's see how as a couple you guys are able to grow. Soul mate or not relationships in general are a work in progress, but being extremely compatible definitely will help things along. :)

I think people really need to just live life on its natural flow. Things always seem to fall in place if they are meant to be and you're doing what you have to do. Of course if those people are being shiftless individuals, they are not participating in this flow lol and it will not work out the way they want it to.

All Asians Are Chinese?

No.  There are quite a few types of Asian people living in America, not all "Asian-looking" people are from China.  Some may ask, "Then how can you tell?"  Asians all share similar physical traits, but do not all look the same.  If some people were to actually pay attention and really look, there are subtle differences physically depending on which nationality of Asian they are.  Plus, if they do speak another language other than English, that's a dead giveaway of what he or she may be. Well to risk not offending a person, it would be more polite to just ask.
